Bolton, Perez & Associates
was responsible for the
design and contract documents for the
repair of four (4) Miami-Dade County sonovoid bridges. The work consisted of an
initial field inspection, analysis of the
existing bridge capacity and final contract
documents for the repairs. The repairs
consist of replacing the existing transverse
post-tensioning bars, grouting the joints
between the slab units and casting a 5-inch
composite concrete topping. Additionally,
the traffic railings and guardrails were
upgraded and the roadway approaches
resurfaced.
The bridges include NW 138th
Street over Miami Canal, SW 107th
Avenue over C-102 Canal, SW 97th
Avenue over Black Creek Canal and Caribbean
Boulevard over C-1N Canal. Each project
required considerable roadway improvements
in order to restore the bridge decks.
Roadway improvements included horizontal and
vertical alignment modifications, upgrade of
street components, drainage, upgrade of
guardrail transitions/con-nections, signing
and pavement markings and maintenance of
traffic. The projects included minor stream
modifications, preparation of permits and
necessary approvals from SFWMD.
